Larnaca Marina has opened its doors to the public

IMPRESSIVE CHANGES IN RECORD TIME WHICH WERE HIGHLY APPRECIATED BY VISITORS
The historic opening of Larnaca Marina for the public of Larnaca and the whole of Cyprus took place on Friday and Saturday, 28 and 29 October 2022 in a festive atmosphere. Thousands of visitors enjoyed the musical performances that were presented while they had the opportunity to see closely the changes made after the activation of the agreement between the Republic of Cyprus and KITION OCEAN HOLDINGS. Larnaca Marina was again made available to the public with a 24-hour opening after almost 50 years.

The visitors who had an image in their mind of the premises and facilities of the Marina said they were impressed by the changes made in the short period of time under the management of the company that undertook the Redevelopment Project of the Marina and the Port of Larnaca.
On the other hand, visitors who did not know and never had the opportunity to enter the Marina’s grounds had the opportunity to see the wonderful grounds, declaring that it is great that they now have the Marina in their options for a family outing, with children, with friends, for a leisurely walk by the sea for food, drink, games and events.

Opening ceremony of Larnaca Marina

The Opening Ceremony of Larnaca Marina for the public took place on Tuesday, 25 October.
The modest ceremony took place in the Marina area.
During the ceremony, the Owner of Kition Ocean Holdings Mr. Panos Alexandrou, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works Mr. Yannis Karousos, the Mayor of Larnaca Mr. Andreas Vyras, and the Operations Manager of Larnaca Marina Capt. Paris Dimitriou addressed a greeting during the event, honorary commemorative plaques were awarded to Mr. Karousos, the Mayor of Larnaca and the Chief of the 23rd Sea Scout System, Mr. Louis Gavriel, who in turn handed over the key to the Nautilus System building to the Larnaca Marina.
The Nautilus System will be transformed as part of the works on the listed pier into a space that will host objects and material of museum value in Larnaca Marina and the listed pier. During the event the founder of Kition Ocean Holdings announced the closure of the listed pier for works which shall be completed next spring.

Larnaca Marina opens its doors to the public

On a historic day, Larnaca Marina opens its doors to the public of Larnaca and the whole of Cyprus.

The opening of the Larnaca Marina will take place on Friday, October 28 at 1:00 p.m. immediately after the completion of the Parade on Athens Avenue (Finikoudes) which takes place as part of the program of the Festive Celebration of the National Anniversary of October 28, 1940.

The Marina will open its doors to the public in a festive atmosphere with events taking place on Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October 2022.

Specifically, on Friday, October 28, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Filippos Ktenas, Vasiliki Hadjiadamou, Elena Andreou and the musical group “Asma” conducted by Savvas Chrysanthou will perform with the musical performance “Laiko Xefantoma”. On Saturday the 29th of October 2022 from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. George Gregoriou (Kinezo), Aristos Christodoulou, Christodoulos Christodoulou, Myros Evangelidis, Panagiotis Tsappis, and Loukas Kerkyras will perform with their “Mousiko Taksidi”. DJ Pietro participates in the events. Admission is free for the public to all 2 musical events.

During the opening activities for the public, visitors will have the opportunity to see how the Marina has been formed after April 1, 2022, the date of activation of the agreement of the Republic of Cyprus with Kition Ocean Holdings for the Larnaca Marina and Port Redevelopment Project.

In Larnaca Marina, there will be a modern Greek fish tavern, a canteen with street food and snacks, a small playground/amusement park, service offices, boats, and beach supplies. In addition to these, in a specially designed area, there will be a market that will bear the name Marina Market. The Marina Market will permanently host 9 houses with local businesses that will provide products, such as food, and drinks whilst on special occasions such as Christmas, Festivals, and other events it will host other activities. Larnaca Marina will be also able to accommodate private and public events.

At the same time, the Marina will have 150 parking spaces that will be able to serve the public who wish to visit the Marina or the coastal front of Athens Avenue in general. The Marina will offer free parking until the end of November whilst at the same time it will have a specially designed parking space for boat owners.

Visitors will be able to use 3 entrances to enter and exit the Marina premises, 2 on the side of Athens Avenue for cars and pedestrians and 1 on the side of the Larnaca District Social Insurance Office for cars.

From The 28th of October, Larnaca Marina will be open daily to the public on a 24-hour basis.

In collaboration with the municipality of Larnaca, the Marina will shortly announce the program of its Christmas Events

The permanent opening of the Larnaca Marina to the public was achieved after a period of 6 months during which its Management proceeded to carry out the necessary health and safety works and to ensure the safe presence of its visitors. Sidewalks, environmentally friendly lighting, pedestrian crossings, gates, and parking lots are just some of the projects carried out to create infrastructure. An infrastructure project of particular reference is the new security system with cameras that have the ability to monitor and record all areas of the Marina ensuring the safety and protection of boat owners and visitors.

The purpose of the company is that the Marina remains at the disposal of the public throughout the first phase of the project during which the development of its marine area and part of the onshore developments will take place. It will have a capacity of 650 berths for various lengths of boats from 5 to 125 meters.

The new Marina will have a refueling station for boats in a new breakwater as well as a modern office building that will host Marina’s offices, the sea scouts, restaurants, cafes, recreation areas, and shops. The upgraded services that the new Larnaca Marina will offer will include the provision of water, electricity, internet, refueling, and maintenance for all categories of vessels.

Παγκύπριο Πρωτάθλημα Σκαφών Ανοικτής Θαλάσσης B’ ORC Cruiser / Racer 2022 στη Μαρίνα Λάρνακας

Πραγματοποιήθηκε στις 17 και 18 Σεπτεμβρίου 2022 από την Κυπριακή Ιστιοπλοϊκή Ομοσπονδία το Παγκύπριο Πρωτάθλημα Σκαφών Ανοικτής Θαλάσσης B’ ORC Cruiser / Racer 2022, στον κόλπο της Λάρνακας.

Ήταν το δεύτερο μέρος του πρωταθλήματος και περιλάμβανε 3 κούρσες. Το πρώτο μέρος του πρωταθλήματος είχε διεξαχθεί στις 18 και 19 Ιουνίου.

Την πρώτη θέση κατέκτησε το σκάφος SVETlANA στη δεύτερη θέση τερμάτισε το σκάφος HORTENSIA και την τρίτη θέση κατέλαβε το σκάφος SPIRIT OF KIKIS.

Η απονομή των βραβείων έγινε κατά τη διάρκεια μιας σεμνής τελετής στη Μαρίνα Λάρνακας, από το Διευθυντή της Μαρίνας Καπτ. Πάρη Δημητρίου.

Το Παγκύπριο Πρωτάθλημα διοργανώνεται με χορηγία του ΟΠΑΠ από την Κυπριακή Ιστιοπλοϊκή Ομοσπονδία και λαμβάνουν μέρος όλοι οι όμιλοι, μέλη της ομοσπονδίας.  

Χορηγός των επάθλων της εκδήλωσης είναι η Μαρίνα Λάρνακαs.

Signing of Dining Spots Agreement in the Port and the Larnaca Marina with the company POEMCO LTD

In a modest ceremony held at the offices of KITION OCEAN HOLDINGS on Tuesday 13 September 2022 was signed by Mr. Panos Alexandrou Founder of KITION OCEAN HOLDINGS, the company that undertook the Project of the redevelopment of the Marina and Port of Larnaca, and the Director of the company POEMCO LTD, Mr. Dimitris Michaelidis, the agreement regarding them dining areas within the Port and Marina of Larnaca.
The agreement refers to three dining spots, two in the Marina and one in the Port of Larnaca.
Specifically the company POEMCO LTD will operate in the Marina a canteen-cafeteria named “KRAKEN” and a restaurant named “AGGISTRI”. While at the Port, a restaurant will operate for its staff and guests.

Delivery of equipment from Kition Ocean Marina to the windsurfing champion Iakovos Christofides

In a modest ceremony held in Larnaca Marina on Thursday 4 August 2022 the founder of Kition Ocean Holdings, the company that undertook the project of the redevelopment of the Marina and Port of Larnaca, Mr. Panos Alexandrou, delivered the Iq Foil equipment to the windsurfer Iakovos Christofides.
Handing over the equipment to the athlete, Mr. Panos Alexandrou said: “Kition Ocean Marina is delivering the new IQ Foil equipment today to Iakovos and we wish him success for himself, for Cyprus and for sports in general. Larnaca Marina wanting to be close to athletes and nautical sports supports Iakovos, who is a young athlete with prospects and talent who shares his love for the sea and has big dreams and goals. Our purpose is to support the athlete initially with his equipment, buying him new professional equipment, and later helping him with other needs that will arise.”
On his part, the seventeen-year-old champion thanked Larnaca Marina for her decision to support his efforts for worldwide recognition. In particular, Iakovos Christofidis said: “I’d like to thank the Kition Ocean Marina for the purchase of my professional equipment, and I will try to bring as many successes as I can, but also participate in the development of the sport in Cyprus. Windsurfing is everything to me, it’s what I spend most of my time on, it brings me close to the sea, the waves and the feeling on the surfboard is something that blows me away. “
The delivery of the equipment took place within the framework of the athlete’s sponsorship agreement by Kition Ocean Marina. The sponsorship aims to strengthen the athlete’s effort to achieve the goals he has set for the coming years through his participation in major global events.
The delivery of the equipment was also attended by the Director of the Larnaca Marina, Captain Paris Dimitriou, and Mr. Andreas Christofidis, father of the athlete.


Who is Iakovos Christofidis?
Iakovos Christofidis turned 17 years old this July. He is one of the rising talents of Cypriot Sports. His goal is to remain consistent in his performance and continue to evolve and improve to ensure his participation in the Olympic Games to be held in Paris in 2024.
He is an athlete of the Nautical Club of Kyrenia and competes with the number 17. The young champion will change his category in August and will participate in the IQ Foil category with which he can participate in the Olympic Games. He recently participated in the Mediterranean Games “Oran 2022” in Algeria and finished at the tenth place.
He has been involved in windsurfing since the age of nine, while for the last two years he has been competing in the T293 category. The perspective he had is excellent if one considers that in his first international participation, Iakovos was ranked 5th in the Panhellenic games, in July 2021, while in August of the same year in the Pan-European games in Tallinn where 90 athletes participated, he also finished at 5th place. In November 2021 at the World Games in Italy (Garda) he finished 7th out of 90 entries. While in the European championship held in Cagliari, Italy, he finished in second place.

P.O.N.A.THA event: “With open sails…ships full of smiles”

The Pancypriot Offshore Sailing Club (P.O.N.A.THA) organized on Saturday July 9 at 9:30am with great success the event “with open sails…ships full of smiles”. The institutions participated in the event Agalia Elpidas-Pancypriot Organization of Parents and Friends of Children with Cerebral and Other Paralysis and the Center for Disabled Adults “Dikaioma Elpidas”. The sponsor of the event was Larnaca Marina.
The children together with their parents and friends boarded 8 boats from Larnaca Marina they sailed in the bay of Larnaca where they enjoyed the beach front of the Finikoudes, the Medieval castle, saw the planes up close and learned the secrets of sailing from the captains.
Before the sea ride, a modest ceremony was held in which the Deputy Mayor of the city, Mr. Iasonas Iasonidis, the president of P.O.N.ATHA, addressed a greeting on behalf of the Mayor of Larnaca. Mr. Giorgos Kazanos, and the Director of the Marina Capt. Paris Dimitriou.
In his greeting, Deputy Mayor Mr. Iasonas Iasonidis said: “I want to thank Kition Ocean Marina who supports this event and the group P.O.N.ATHA. who cares about the quality of life of these children. Mr. Iasonidis said that if we could all help in this way, we would have a much better world than we have today”
Speaking on behalf of the organizers, the president of P.O.N.ATHA. Mr. George Kazanos expressed: “This year we managed to organize this event that we did in 2019 despite the fact that we had promised to hold it every year. Unfortunately the pandemic did not allow us to do that in 2020-2021.. We feel a satisfaction that we can offer to people who cannot enter the sea alone. I hope this year the children will enjoy beautiful moments that they enjoyed the last time we organized this event.”
Finally, the Director of Larnaca Marina Capt. Paris Dimitriou speaking on behalf of the sponsor noted: “Today, Larnaca Marina is present along with P.O.N.ATHA. because the sea is a hug for everyone and especially for children. Larnaca Marina will be next to the associations and sailing clubs in such actions.”
This was followed by lunch at the Larnaca Marina where the children shared their experience and asked the Captains questions.
The event aimed to offer the children of the Group’s organization a unique experience and help them to be inspired and engage more with the sea.

Thank-you letter to Larnaca Marina

With a thank-you letter to the Director of Larnaca Marina Capt. Paris Dimitriou, the group of organized boats from Israel that visited Larnaca Marina on Thursday, 2 June 2022 expressed its gratitude.
The organizer of the trip Ms. Elizabeth Lousky thanked for the welcome party, the welcoming, the hospitality and renewed the appointment of the E.M.I.R CYC team at Larnaca Marina.
