"Swimming for Our Children": A Warm Embrace for Children with Chronic Illnesses

Successfully combining their love for the sea, swimming talent, and philanthropic purpose, twelve open water swimmers participated in the "Swimming Walk" event, organized by Larnaca Marina, in support of the Christina A. Apostolou Foundation for children and youth with chronic illnesses.

The favorable weather favored supporters and visitors at Larnaca Marina, where young friends enjoyed impressive games and activities in the marina's surroundings, while adults savored moments by the sea and actively participated in the philanthropic campaign.

Under the slogan "Swimming for Our Children," the swimmers undertook a sea journey starting from Larnaca Marina to the city's airport and returned to the starting point, where they were warmly welcomed by friends, Marina members, their families, and citizens who rushed to support this cause.

The event was supported by the Municipality of Larnaca, with Mayor Andreas Vyras personally attending. The Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Mr. Philippos Chatzizacharias, endorsed the event. In his greeting, he congratulated Kition Ocean Marina for the initiative, Mayor Vyras for supporting such events, and the swimmers who served as a shining example of supporting families and children.

Andreas Apostolou, Member of Parliament and co-founder of the Christina A. Apostolou Foundation, expressed gratitude to all who embraced the initiative. He emphasized that sports unite, support, and offer when there are people who love and care for their fellow human beings.

He thanked sponsors and supporters who contributed to raising approximately six thousand euros, destined to support families accompanying their children for treatment abroad when there is no corresponding state care for these specific needs.

The swimming walk served as a remarkable demonstration that the challenges faced by some families with sick children can be alleviated through acts of solidarity and contribution.
